"for me anyway "me anyway of my all time favorite series Full of great characters amazing settings fabulous story lines and if you read the whole series of 4 books you ll get into philosophy religion ethics science the future of mankind in several forms and a story you won t be able to put down I cry my eyes out every single time I read the last book and I ve read them all I think this is the best sci fi I ve read since Frank Herbert s Dune trilogy Imagine reading something as great as the movie Matrix written by someone who knows Keats Shakespeare Pound etc I m no technology buff so I struggled to nderstand the world these characters inhabited b Given the date of publication I ve come to Hyperion very late but I m so glad #That I Found ItIt #I found itIt brilliant Mr Simmons scope of imagination in breathtaking his prose is lyrical and his ability to transport the reader into the worlds of his creation is incomparable Hyperion is not just a book it s an achievement and having read it in two days I Can T Wait can t wait start the seuelDan you ve made an old woman very happy My first concern that this book would be of terrible ality was the fact the spine reads Hyerion not Hyperion It doesn t fill one with confidence when the publisher can t spell the name of the book Upon reaching page 30 my fears were realised when about a To destroy it In the Valley of the Time Tombs where huge brooding structures move backward through time the Shrike waits for them all On the eve of Armageddon with the entire galaxy at war seven pilgrim. Wants To Be There Comes The Issue That This Bookto be There comes the issue that this book seemingly written by a man who would like to daylight as an erotica author There is too much needless sex The strangers in this book find themselves locked together in a pilgrimage to the shrike temple What does that mean I ve read the entire book and honestly I ve got no idea I just do not care These are people who have never met before and yet there are pages on pages of needlessly narrated sex scenes being told to absolute strangers Why Does it inform the characters I suppose if their character trait was horny male but it isn t save the satyr It is needless and annoying and had me put the book down several timesThe first story told is horrifying It is shocking and vile and engrossing and it prepared me for a much better book than what was to comeI finished the novel It doesn t even have a proper finish Some convoluted plan is revealed and the plot #of the novel is nresolved If I had liked this book I might have cared #the novel is Loving Jessie unresolved If I had liked this book I might have cared to read the seuelBut I don t The book holds fragments of a superior story It gives a glimpse at something beautiful but fails just short of greatness Ok so this was a book club read and none ofs as in absolutely not one man or woman aged 30 50 something enjoyed the book Most of Behind Closed Doors (Made in Montana, us had to re read the first chunk just tonderstand a bit of the premise And then after slogging through the endless pages there is a cliffhanger SMHI sually try to avoid this kind of review but seriously Save your time and money As with any story it s really all in the telling Dan Simmons is an amazing writer His prose is exuisite his charact. S set forth on a final voyage to Hyperion seeking the answers to the nsolved riddles of their lives Each carries a desperate hope and a terrible secret And one may hold the fate of humanity in his hands.
