People are very different, each of us has our own unique habits, likes and dislikes. This is part of the joy in life, to be able to find your own unique set of strengths and weaknesses, to compliment them and help make your life meaningful.

 

In the world of work, it’s the same – the daily schedule is all about a matrix of patterns and repetitions – which are tough to break free from. So when you can, try and change those habits to fit with yours.

But ‘is’ time. So how do you go about doing that?

To start with, I’ll point out five ways to set aside some space each day for yourself to take some time for yourself. Remember, this is for YOU! It’s your time – you don’t have to contribute to other people’s plans or have anyone else to hold you to account for it.

Take some time and spend some time (not too much though!) just doing whatever you want to do.

Let it go for a while and when you come back to it, it’s not going to seem so boring. You have allowed yourself some time for yourself to take some good quality time to look at what you’re doing and decide what to do next.

Love that you get to set aside your time for yourself! That’s what freedom is all about. That’s the one thing that we often forget to do. When you take some time each day, it gives you a chance to be more creative with your work and take more pleasure from it. It gives you time to talk with others about what you’ve done and reflect on it and even better, it gives you a chance to read great books that you can actually feel a little bit passionate about.

In fact, if you put the time into finding those books, they will become part of your love of life, your passion. It gives you time to create and helps others create too.

How about taking the time to meet and talk to others? Try and contact someone you might be able to connect with – if it’s just a coffee or lunch, that’s fine – it’s all part of the journey.

But if you’re the kind of person who just sits in a room and talks, try and find the time to meet and talk to others too. You’ll find it is a way to express yourself and find ways to have some quality conversation and allow your mind to wander.

If you want to set apart some time for yourself, you should do so in your own way, according to your tastes and interests. It can be a bit challenging, but it can be rewarding.
